How would you like it if your baby got stung by a scorpion and when you go to the doctor he won’t help because he is racist and hates Indians? That is what happens in the book The Pearl by John Steinbeck. The book The Pearl was a book that was kind of boring in the beginning but towards the middle and end it was a lot better. Although this wasn’t very good in the beginning it turned out to be a good, bad, and sad book.

The main characters in The Pearl were Kino and Juana. Kino in the beginning of the book was a kind man who wore bad close and was poor. He and his wife Juana have one child named Coyotito. Juana was a very nice and calm person that had never wanted something to much for she may not like it or it she may not even get it. Juana is a person that was nice and was always supporting to Kino. This book was good and bad at parts which will be in the next paragraph

This book was not very good in the beginning and it got better in the end in some parts. When Kino found the pearl was a good part because he found the pearl of the sea and he thought that it would be worth thousands or millions. Then when the doctor wants thousands of dollars for helping the baby and Kino doesn’t have that he had to sell it and the pearl buyers purposely made it sound like it was worth about 200 dollars.
With this book not being good at the beginning and was a little good at the end. This was a book that was really boring in the beginning and got better towards the end, a sad part is in the end when the baby got shot and died. That is why it was a good, bad, and sad book.
