Authors Note: This is
a 2 paragraph essay on a theme in the story “The Lottery”
What would you do if you grew up in a town that played the
lottery but wasn’t for money? The story “The Lottery” is about a average happy
town that has a tradition of playing the lottery. This is no ordinary lottery,
this lottery is meant to kill somebody. A theme of this story would be
tradition because this whole town has played the lottery for a very long time
now and they grew up doing it so they do not consider it “bad” to kill the
winner.
This theme
is in this story for the reason that from start to finish it has always been
the town tradition. It may not be right to the average folk but to them it is
what they have done their entire life so to them, it is normal. The tradition
is “fun” to them but not very “normal” The towns tradition will be looked upon
as anger full, but not to them, it is what they grew up with and what they
know.
I thought it was good, but your sentences were a little choppy and the beginning sentence of the 2nd paragraph was a little confusing to understand.

ReplyDeleteI liked your organization, it was very well thought out and put together. A good thought would be to take this piece in the future and revise into a essay to be graded if need be.
